Happy Endings

The history of the Southside SPCA is rich with thousands of “Happy Ending” stories of dogs and cats who have found safe, loving homes, thanks to people like you who support our programs and are committed to adopting pets from no-kill shelters like ours.

Baby Girl - BoxerFor example, Baby Girl, a Boxer mix found roaming the streets in Meherrin.  A good Samaritan tried to keep her but she continuously escaped and was ‘on the road’ to an early death before being accepted by Southside SPCA.

Baby Girl's adoptive home has trained her as a service dog and she was last seen shopping in Food Lion with her new owner.

Or Summer, an abandoned beagle whose history is unknown. Southside SPCA provided extensive surgery to remove two tumors and two hernias.  Summer is now a beloved companion to a trained therapy dog and her loving owners say she shows promise in her own therapy dog training.

All of our newsletters feature the newest Happy Ending stories – please read them. We are sure that they will touch your heart.

Each and every happy ending begins with our ability to continue our mission of love, compassion, and education in Southside Virginia.

Letter from "Hope"

Hope - An Adopted Dog

Hi Gang,

I just wanted to let you know I arrived at my new home this morning and I'm having a blast! I have my own yard and new parents that really love me. I'm sending pictures to let you know I'm doing just fine. Hey, they have lots of leaves here and they are really fun to roll around in and you'll notice that I've already taken over my Mom's chair so I'm feeling right at home.

Thanks for taking such good care of me while I stayed with you and thanks for letting me come home with the "folks". I'll stay in touch and let you know how I'm doing.

Love ya!
Hope
